The short version: FindGlance works on your Mac. Your files, their names and their contents never leave it. The app goes online only to check your license and look for updates, and this website sets no cookies and runs no trackers.
Who we are
FindGlance is made by Sidhant Sinha, an independent developer based in India. For any privacy question or request, email support@findglance.com.
Your files stay on your Mac
FindGlance reads the folders you allow so it can show, search and tidy your files. Everything it works out is stored on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/FindGlance. That includes its index of your files, thumbnails, the text it recognizes in images and PDFs, and the results of duplicate checks.
Text recognition uses the Vision framework built into macOS, which runs on your Mac. None of this information is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the app sends
FindGlance makes two kinds of network requests:
- License checks. When you activate, check or deactivate a Pro license, FindGlance sends your license key, an identifier for your Mac and the app version to Dodo Payments, which issues and verifies our license keys. The Mac identifier is what lets one license cover up to 3 Macs. It is not linked to your files.
- Update checks. FindGlance asks findglance.com whether a newer version exists. The request includes the version of FindGlance you have.
Like any request on the internet, these checks reveal your IP address to the server that answers them. We do not use it to identify you.
The start date of your free trial is kept in your Mac’s Keychain and is never sent anywhere. FindGlance does not include analytics or crash reporting. If we add crash reporting later, it will stay off unless you turn it on, and we will update this page first.
Buying FindGlance Pro
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Dodo collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information to take the payment, send your license key, and handle tax and refunds, under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, country, order details and license key so we can help you with your purchase. We never see your full card number.
When you email us
If you write to support, we use your email address and message to reply, and we keep the conversation so we can help with any follow-up.
This website
findglance.com is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes visitors’ IP addresses and request details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The site sets no cookies and loads no third-party trackers, ads or fonts. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage and stays on your device.
Your choices
You can ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@findglance.com. If we delete your purchase records, we may not be able to resend a lost license key.
To remove everything FindGlance stored on your Mac, quit the app, move it to the Trash, and delete the ~/Library/Application Support/FindGlance folder.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what the app sends, we will also mention it in the release notes for that version.
